Newberry junior voted The State’s Midlands high school football Player of the Week

.The votes have been tabulated and Newberry’s Bryce Satterwhite is the winner in The State’s Midlands high school football Player of the Week for Oct. 19-20.

Thanks to everyone who voted for the poll. A new one will be out on Monday.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Breylon Boyd, QB, Ridge View: Senior was 11-of-20 for 197 yards, a touchdown and carried it 11 times for 75 yards and two scores in win over Richland Northeast.

AJ Brand, QB, Irmo: Junior was 12-of-18 passing for 212 yards, three touchdowns, and carried it twice for 53 yards and two TDs in win over Westwood.

Sam Burks, RB, Northside Christian: Junior rushed 14 times for 242 yards four touchdowns and had an interception in one half of action in win over Palmetto Christian.

Kendall Byrd, WR, AC Flora: Sophomore had eight catches for 170 yards and two touchdowns in win over Lugoff-Elgin.

Tyreik Davenport-Smith, DE, Keenan: Sophomore had nine tackles, four for loss, a sack and returned an interception for a touchdown in win over Mid-Carolina.

Victavis Gaines, WR, Saluda: Junior had four catches for 60 yards, two touchdowns and returned a kickoff 74 yards for a touchdown in win over Fox Creek.

Caleb Geronomi, DB, White Knoll: Sophomore had seven tackles, one for loss, one quarterback pressure, three pass break-ups, a forced fumble and blocked a field goal in win over Chapin.

Jon Hunt, QB, Dutch Fork: Senior was 16-of-19 passing for 313 yards, three touchdowns and carried it nine times for 62 yards in win over River Bluff.

Bryce Satterwhite, QB/TE/LB, Newberry: Junior threw an 80-yard touchdown, caught a 16-yard TD, had four tackles and returned a fumble for a touchdown in win over Columbia.

Duncan Skehan, QB, Cardinal Newman: Senior was 16-of-24 for 320 yards two touchdowns and carried it four times for 40 yards in 49-42 loss to Porter-Gaud.

Trevon Williamson, RB, Gilbert: Freshman carried it 24 times for 200 yards, caught three passes for 39 yards with five total touchdowns in win over Dreher.

Will Young, QB/WR, Brookland-Cayce: Senior rushed for 176 yards, three touchdowns and caught a 66-yard pass in a win over Swansea.
