Lewisville head football coach Leon Boulware will take over as the head coach for the Lugoff-Elgin football program.
Boulware served as head coach for the Lions for the previous two seasons, leading the Lions to a 21-4 record and consecutive undefeated region championships for the first time since 2006-07.
Lewisville posted back-to-back 10-win seasons under Boulware after winning only 11 games total in the four previous seasons.
“He really came in and changed the culture of the program,” Lewisville athletic director Kirk Cannon said. “It brought back tradition to Lewisville High School, the tradition of championships and everything at Lewisville High School we won in the past. Everything he did, not only for football, but for our kids, staff, community, everybody here, it really brought this tradition back.”
Cannon said that Trent Usher will be serving as the interim head coach while the school conducts interviews for the role.
Usher has been serving as Lewisville’s defensive coordinator for the past two seasons.
Boulware will be replacing Matt Campbell for a Lugoff-Elgin team that hasn’t had a winning season since 2017.
