Obituary of Deacon Sammie Danzy

ELGIN-  A funeral service for Deacon Sammie Danzy, 90, will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Barr will officiate. A public viewing will be held Friday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

Mr. Danzy, husband of the late Pauline A. Danzy, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024. Born in Kershaw County, S.C., he was a son of the late Harvey Danzy, Sr. and Janie Christine Jackson Danzy. Mr. Danzy was a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church. He owned and operated his own Janitorial Company and worked for the N.Y. State Education Department. Mr. Danzy was a handyman and enjoyed watching wrestling, cleaning yards, and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his children, Dwayne Danzy, Verenetta Caldwell (Johnny), Ebony Danzy, Terrance Danzy, Arthur Danzy, Nameel Danzy, Jalah Danzy, Shanasia Danzy, Robert Marbrey; sisters, Betty King (Walter), Annie McCoy; 24 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by sons, Keith Danzy, Shavar Danzy; and siblings, John Henry Danzy, Sophie McCoy, Marylee Gant, Harvey Danzy, Jr., Esaw Danzy, Robert Danzy and Bobby Danzy.
