Obituary of Stephen Morris Zobel
LUGOFF – Funeral service for Stephen “Steve” Morris Zobel, 61, will be held at 4pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Spears Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Foundation.
Steve passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024. Born in Columbia, S.C., he was the son of the late Edwin J. Zobel, III and Myrtle Lee Morris Zobel. He was a member of the Rotary club, Optimist Club, S.C. Waterfowl Association, Swift Creek Dove Club, and the chairman of the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Foundation. Steve was a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church where he served in the Brother Hood and was the head of the safety team. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard work, traveling, and boating. Steve loved his family and his work with law enforcement.
Surviving is his wife, Cathy Coleman Zobel; children, Stephen Joshua Zobel (Taylor) and Samantha Maya Zobel. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Edwin J. Zobel IV.
