Ruth Newton Obituary

Funeral services for Ruth Corbin Newton will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, 1139 Highway 1 South, Lugoff. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 3:00-4:00 PM.  Burial will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 12:00 Noon. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org.

Ruth, daughter of the late J.C. Corbin and Ruth Smith Corbin, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024. She was the widow of the late Jerold Thomas Newton, Sr.

Ruth is survived by daughters, Karen McInerney of Elgin and Patty Morrison (Eddie) of Lyman, SC; son, Randy Newton of Elgin; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was predeceased by her son, Jerold T. Newton, Jr.; sister, Willene Redd; and brothers, Paul Corbin and Thomas Corbin.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
