Obituary of Delos Alvin Halterman
ELGIN – Delos Alvin Halterman, 88, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Born in Bayard, Iowa, he was the son of the late Howard and Ella Preul Steckelberg. He and his late wife, Mary Lou Hupp Halterman, moved to South Carolina from Deloit, IA in 2007. He enlisted in the United States Army in August 31, 1955 and was honorably discharged on June 2, 1958. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, IA. Mr. Halterman was a truck driver for Mid Continent Trucking, Farmland, and 3 Of a Kind Xpress before retiring in 2007. He received his million mile driving award with Farmland during his trucking career. Mr. Halterman enjoyed working outside, watching Western movies, sitting outside, and tending to his garden.
Surviving are his daughter, Tracy Ann Wiebelhaus (Thomas) of Elgin; son, Delos “Chris” Halterman (Jeri) of Lawson, Missouri; sister, Bernice Koesters of Council Bluffs, Iowa; grandchildren, Delos Matthew Halterman (Cathy) of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Nicole Roberts (Patrick) of Kansas City, Missouri, Kristen Wiebelhaus (Mat), Cameron Wiebelhaus, and Jacqueline Wiebelhaus (Ryan); 5 great-granddaughters; and 3 great-grandsons. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a grandson, Jacob Michael Halterman; and siblings, Connie Henningson, Jolene Ricketts and Beverly.
