T&D REGION SPORTS: Former D-O coach lands in Lugoff

Lugoff-Elgin High School announced Thursday night that former Denmark-Olar head football coach and athletics director Jarvis Littlejohn would be joining its staff as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. Littlejohn spent the last four years at Denmark-Olar leading the Vikings to three-straight Class playoff appearances.

BASEBALL

SCHSL Class 3A Playoffs

Orangeburg-Wilkinson 7, Phillip Simmons 5

Jordan Hill and Demari Battle each had two hits and two RBIs to lead Orangeburg-Wilkinson. Xavier Glover had a hit and scored two runs; Caleb Haynes had an RBI and Kaleb Jamison had an RBI. The Bruins travel to face Loris in an elimination game Saturday.

SCHSL Class 2A Playoffs

North Central 9, Edisto 4

Landon Kuck had two hits and two RBIs to lead Edisto. Connor Baldwin and Adam Shafer each had a hit and an RBI; Maxx Judy, Max Dempsey, Mason Tyler and Ryder Bingham each added hits. With the loss Edisto is eliminated.

SCHSL Class A Playoffs

Bamberg-Ehrhardt 16, Palmetto Scholar’s 6

Chase Collins had three hits and four RBIs to lead Bamberg-Ehrhardt. Garrett Wade had two hits and three RBIs; Brent Amaker had two hits and two RBIs; Brian McMillan had a hit and an RBI; Weston Stokes had a hit and score four runs; Davis Ehrhardt had a hit and Nasi Singleton had a hit. Tripp Brewer earned the win throwing 4.1 innings, allowing one run and striking out 11 batters. B-E advances to face Latta in an elimination game Saturday.

C.A. Johnson 8, Calhoun County 3

Wayne Farmer had two hits and Amare Haynes had a hit and an RBI to lead Calhoun County. With the loss the Saints are eliminated.

SCISA Class 2A

Calhoun Academy 11, Lee Academy 1

Connor Hayes and Colt Layton each had two hits and two RBIs to lead Calhoun Academy. Crews Felder had two hits and an RBI; Turner Hood had two hits; Jordan Noell had a hit; Sage Davis had an RBI; Davis Holeman had a hit; Landon Barnes had two hits and an RBI and Joseph Lyons had an RBI. Hayes earned the victory throwing 5.2 innings, allowing one run and striking out seven batters. The Cavaliers advance to face Patrick Henry in the semifinal round beginning Monday.

SCISA Class A

Jefferson Davis Academy 17, Wardlaw 2

Colson Loadholt and Dalton Nix each had three hits and three RBIs to lead Jefferson Davis Academy. Carter Loadholt and Logan Croft each had two hits and an RBI; Hunter Zorn had a hit and two RBIs and Will Stillinger had a hit and an RBI. Landon Williams earned the victory pitching four innings and striking out six batters. JDA advances to face Richard Winn in the semifinal round beginning Monday.

Adam Shafer had a hit and three RBIs; Max Dempsey had a hit and an RBI; Michael Myers had a hit and an RBI; Connor Baldwin had a hit and an RBI; Landon Kuck had two hits; Hunter Judy had two hits and Maxx Judy had two hits. Edisto will host North Central in an elimination game Thursday.

St. Joseph’s 14, Calhoun County 2

Jacob Bochette had a hit and two RBIs to lead Calhoun County (10-6, 5-3). Chris Glover and Cullen Sightler each added hits. Calhoun County will host C.A. Johnson in an elimination game Thursday.

SOFTBALL

Class 2A Playoffs

Chesterfield 11, Edisto 0

Edisto will host North Central in an elimination game Friday.

Barnwell 15, Lake Marion 0

Lake Marion will travel to Andrews in an elimination game Friday.

Class A Playoffs

Lake View 14, Bamberg-Ehrhardt 0

Maddie Hutto had the lone hit to lead Bamberg-Ehrhardt. B-E will travel to face the loser of East Clarendon and Lake View Monday, May 6.

Green Sea-Floyds 8, Branchville 4

Lauren Shaw led Branchville with three hits and two RBIs. Kayden LaPiene had two hits and an RBI; Kylie Starns had a hit and an RBI; and Cadence McAlhaney had a hit. Branchville will play host to Charleston Math & Science in an elimination game Friday.

High Point 4, Calhoun County 0

Marissa Craven and Alexa Tamayo each had two hits to lead Calhoun County. Hailey Carter, Kailey Carter and Michaela Craven each had a hit. Calhoun County will travel to face Ware Shoals Friday in an elimination game.

SCISA

Laurence Manning 5, Orangeburg Prep 4

Prestan Schurlknight led Orangeburg Prep (15-2) with two hits, scored a run and stole a base. Katherine Lambrecht had two hits, scored a run and stole two bases; Calee Hartzog had two hits and scored a run; Payton Schurlknight had a hit, two RBIs, scored a run and stole a base; Jane Walker Yonce had two hits; Lauren Ballew had a hit and an RBI; Hannah Lambrecht had a hit and Layla Garric had a hit. Payton Schurlknight threw six innings and struck out four batters.
