A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joyce Kinard Mellette will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, 1139 Highway 1 South, Lugoff.

Rev. Taylor Wells will officiate.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 11:00 AM – 12:00. Memorials may be made to the Kershaw County Humane Society, 128 Black River Road, Camden, SC 29020.

Joyce, daughter of the late James Ruby Kinard and Peggy Joyner Kinard, died on Sunday, May 26, 2024. She loved animals, flowers, and the beach.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 38 years, Thomas Joseph Mellette; son, Thomas Justin Mellette (Cassie) of Boston, MA; and brothers, Steve Kinard (Darlene) of Elgin and Bruce Kinard (Robin) of Winnsboro, SC.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her brother, Allen Kinard.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
