KERSHAW, S.C. — June isn’t thought of as a basketball month, but that is changing.
While most football teams are doing 7-on-7 activities, basketball teams are taking advantage of the open month to practice and participate in different events.
At Andrew Jackson High School, the Vols are hosting the Tri-County Shootout. The event will be most of the day Monday, June 10, starting at 11 a.m., and will feature an advertised seven girls and boys teams.
Local teams participating are host Andrew Jackson boys and girls, Indian Land boys and girls and Lancaster boys and girls.
Other girls teams participating include Lugoff-Elgin, Great Falls and Gaffney. Other boys teams participating are Cheraw, Great Falls and Gaffney.
Andrew Jackson High School is using both its high school gym and the school’s Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) to play games.
Each game is scheduled for roughly an hour and local key match-ups are Andrew Jackson and Indian Land boys and girls playing each other at 11 a.m. The girls game between the Vols and Warriors will be in the VPAC and the boys game will be in the school’s gym.
Another interesting game will be Lancaster against the Andrew Jackson boys at 2 p.m. in the school’s gym.
The event is scheduled to last until roughly 5 p.m., with the last game starting at 4 p.m. in the high school gym.
