Ivy Mayo Obituary

On this blessed day we thank God for his divine presence in our lives and for the life of my sister, friend & neighbor.

Mrs. Ivy Kelly Mayo was born in Kershaw County, South Carolina on July 6, 1947. She was the daughter of the late David & Rebecca Joy Kelly. She departed this life on July 5, 2024 in Camden, South Carolina.

Ivy accepted Christ as her savior at an early age, she joined Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Camden, SC. She received her formal education from Boylan Haven Mather Academy & Camden High School, graduating in 1968. 

Ivy moved to New Haven, CT where she was employed as a bank teller at until she retired in 2005.

After her retirement, Ivy returned to her hometown of Camden, South Carolina, where she resumed her membership at Emmanuel UMC. She was a faithful, dedicated, and hardworking member.
 
Ivy was preceded in death by her birth mother, Lillie Mae Burroughs; two sisters, Beulah Boyd & Shirley Missouri; one brother, David S. Kelly, Jr. and husband of 32 years, Melvin Mayo.

She lives to cherish her memory:  one son Melvin (Jessie) Mayo Jr;  two grandchildren, Margie Mayo and Paula Mayo of Rocky Mount, NC; brother Johnnie L. Kelly of Camden, SC; sister, Marie Kelly O’Buba of Portland, OR; brother-in-law George Missouri of Rembert, SC; two aunts, Frances Cooper of Camden, SC and Jessie Mae Kay of Washington, DC and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives & friends.
