Laura Jean Gainey Farmer, 71, of Kershaw, SC passed away to her forever home on July 5, 2024, at Piedmont Hospital in Rock Hill, SC. Born on February 6, 1953, in Kershaw, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walker and Sadie Cassidy Gainey.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Farmer; sisters, Lila Shepherd of Georgia, Evelyn Hammond of Georgia, Pat Carnes of Lancaster, SC; and brother, Benny Gainey of Bethune, SC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Reba, Ola, Wanda, brother W.J. (Dub), and her mother-in-law, Jo Lynn Farmer.
Jean enjoyed going to craft shows and gospel singing. She loved all children, especially “her Kemper.” She was a member of Timrod Baptist Church, where she served in several capacities. Jean worked for Crenshaw oil Company in Lancaster for over 30 years and was currently employed with First Palmetto Bank in Camden.
A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held at Timrod Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
The family will be gathering at Larry and Jean’s home, 686A Oak Ridge Church Road, Kershaw, SC.
