Obituary of Rebecca Newton Hardee

WEST COLUMBIA- Rebecca Newton Hardee 89, passed away on July 19, 2024. Born in Creswell, N.C. on April 1, 1935. She was one of seven children of Roy and Malinda Davenport.

    Becky loved to tend to her flowers and watch the many different birds visit her feeders. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, being with her loving family and attending church at St Andrews Lutheran Church in Columbia.

    Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 35 years, Alton Hardee, her three daughters Linda Newton Borovich (Michael), Wanda Newton Vilches (Juan), and Ronda Newton Braley (Edward). She also has two wonderful grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Braley.

    Becky is also survived by her sister Phyllis Ellis, her sister-in-law Shirley Davenport and stepson Fulmer Shealy (Joyce), and Becky’s stepchildren by marriage, Angela Smith (David), Mary Ann Jones (Ray), Paul Shealy (Summer). Becky was predeceased by her first husband of 26 years, Milton Newton Jr.

    A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on July 23, 2024, at 10:00 am in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pastor John Trump will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Lutheran Church,1416 Broad River Rd. Columbia, SC 29210.
