Mary Rench Obituary

Funeral services for Mary Rench, 90, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Grace Episcopal Church, 1315 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC.  Rev. Pickett Wall will officiate.  Burial at Quaker Cemetery will follow. 

Mary Martin deLoach “Molsey” Rench passed away on July 24, 2024.  She was born in Camden, the daughter of the late Serre D. and Mary Blackwell deLoach.  

Born into a career military family in Camden, SC, Molsey traveled the world, but home and hearth was where her heart was deeply rooted, wherever that took her.  Her skill at making friends along the way, taking in the traveler, making the stranger feel as family, and creating a home regardless of the zip code, was her super power.  She called herself “a 1950’s wife” proud to be in that vanguard of so many wives and mothers.  She and J. Frederic (Fritz) had 70 years of marriage that culminated into 4 daughters, 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was the quintessential Granny adoring her many “grands” and delighting in their presence.  The hole she leaves in our hearts is vast and as one granddaughter put it, “I comfort myself knowing that our tears are filling the river and our thoughts are fueling the boat delivering her home.”

Molsey is survived by her husband, J. Frederic “Fritz” Rench; children, Cathryn Rench, Mary Rench, Emily Montgomery (Arthur); grandchildren, Heloise, Camille, Lucie (Chris), Antoine, Maxime, Jean, Ian (Georgie), Shannon (Aaron), Duncan, Charlotte, Emma, Josephine (Matt); 11 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Josephine Kershaw Barlow and Charlotte Douglas Riley (Joseph P., Jr.).

In addition to her parents, Molsey was predeceased by her daughter, Josephine Shannon Tyler.
