Obituary of Elaine Hinson Groleau
Columbia – Funeral service for Elaine Hinson Groleau, 87, will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Springvale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:30 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
Mrs. Groleau, wife of the late Lawrence Lucien Groleau, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Still Hopes in West Columbia. Born in Lugoff, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Lula Jackson Hinson. She worked for The Citizens and Southern National Bank in Columbia for over 20 years. She was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church. Mrs. Groleau enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, traveling, sewing, making dolls, and arranging flowers.
Surviving are her daughters, Karen Sherenco of Blythewood, and Janet Bacher (Mark) of Jacksonville, Fla.; step-daughter, Diane Lake of Braintree, VT; step-sons, Alan Groleau (Lynn) of Gilbert, S.C., and Daryl Groleau of Dayville, CT; sister, Vivian Vinson (the late Ralph Vinson) of Florence; grandchildren, Patrick Williamson, James Groleau, Erika Groleau, Tanner Lake, Aylssa Lake, Melissa Groleau, Nikki Bacher, Katlynn Bacher, and Katrina Sherenco; 1 great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Dana Groleau; step-sons, Vaughn Groleau and Ronald Groleau of Webster, Mass.; and sister, Blanche Boykin.
