Jerry Wayne Sowell

Jerry Wayne Sowell, age 77, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on July 27, 2024. He was born in Camden, South Carolina, to the late Emmett L. Sowell and Kathryn Sims Sowell. He graduated from Mount Pisgah High School and attended Clemson University, later graduating from Richland Tech. He retired from the V. C. Summer Nuclear Station (SCANA) after 36 years of employment.  

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dianne Watson Sowell, and his son, Jason S. Sowell. Also surviving are his four beloved grandchildren, Katherine McNally Sowell, Emmett Carroll Sowell, Ellison Carter Sowell, and Margaret Lyles Sowell, as well as his brother-in-law Edward Watson (Resa). In his retirement he enjoyed camping with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.  

A private service will be held by the immediate family. Burial will be in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
