Camden – A service to celebrate the life of Mary Jenkins Stradford, 92, will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  Public viewing will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stradford, wife of the late John “Mook” Stradford, passed away a MUSC Kershaw Health on Monday, August 26, 2024.  Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late John Jenkins and Elizabeth Ballard Jenkins.  She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.  She was a very hospitable lady who enjoyed cooking and entertaining.  Mrs. Stradford loved and adored her grandchildren and cherished the time spent with them.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Mary Stradford of Camden and Janie “Missy” Burgess (Ronald) of Meriden, Conn.; son, Elliott “Boo” Stradford of Camden; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.  She was predeceased by sons, Johnny Stradford and Simon Stradford; sisters, Serena Williams, Bertha Boykin, Margaret Mullins, Rebecca Majett, Daisey Perry and Rose Ann Whitmore; and brothers, Elliott Jenkins, Franklin Jenkins, English Jenkins and Isaac Jenkins.
