A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas Eugene Kirsch, 75, will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday,
September 5, 2024, at St John Neumann Catholic Church, 721 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223. Father Sandy McDonald will officiate. Burial at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery (4170 Percival Road, Columbia SC 29229) will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Following the Burial there will be light refreshments at St John Neumann Catholic Church. We will have a Rosary Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 6:00 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, 1139 US-1, Lugoff, SC 29078.

Thomas Kirsch passed away on August 30, 2024. Born in Sioux City, IA, Thomas was the son of the late Harold Eugene and Pauline Drexler Kirsch. He was a faithful member of the St. John Neumann Catholic Church and proudly served in the Knights of Columbus, where he was recognized as the Knight of the Year in 2023 and 2024. Thomas Kirsch retired after 20 years from serving in the United States Army, he retired as a Sergeant First Class. Thomas was deployed to Vietnam from 1969-1970 with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment; his other duty assignments included Germany, California, Texas, South Carolina and Korea. After his military career he was employed by the South Carolina Department of Corrections as a Food Service Inspector until his retirement in 2016.

Thomas Kirsch spent his retirement years doing the activities he cherished the most, which were:
spending time with his friends and family.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cathy Jo Haynes Kirsch; David Kirsch (Andrea) of
Ridgeway, SC, Stacey Taylor (Brad), of Lexington, SC, and Brian Kirsch (Annett), of Richmond Hill,
GA; grandchildren, Annika Kirsch, Eric Kirsch, Collin Taylor, Ethan Taylor, Henry Kirsch and Amilia
Kirsch.

Other than his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his sisters, Nancy Beacom and Kathy Soole and his brother, Terry Kirsch.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
