Edward Haskel “Ed” Gainey

 REMBERT – A celebration of life service for Edward Haskel “Ed” Gainey, 85, will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 4 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mr. Gainey, husband of the late Susan Claudia Gainey, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Born in Rockingham, N.C., he was a son of the late Archie Monroe Gainey and Willie Mae Whitlock Gainey. Ed’s hobbies included fishing, freediving, and birding; he enjoyed listening to classical music and spending time with his family. Ed was a military veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. 

    Ed had seven siblings and is survived by sisters, Joyce Flowers (John) of Camden and Evelyn Holland of MO; his daughters, Megan Hendrick (Cody) of Charleston, Christina Curtis of Woodruff; son, Phillip Gainey of Woodruff; grandchildren, Guy Hendrick, Rachel Hendrick.
