Obituary

LANCASTER, SC – Mr. William Franklin “Frank” Broom, Jr., age 81, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025 at his home. He was born December 13, 1943, in Rock Hill, SC, son of the late William Franklin Broom, Sr. and the late LuEdith Bland Broom and was the loving husband of Rachel Self Broom.  Mr. Broom proudly served in The United States Army. He was a very talented carpenter who loved being outdoors, especially when he was camping or fishing. Mr. Broom loved his family dearly and his three fur babies, Beethoven, Maggie, and Sammy. 

Mr. Broom is survived by his wife, Rachel Broom; four children, Mike Broom (Brenda), Steve Broom (Kristin), Misty Broom-Keenan (Charlie), and Frankie Strickland; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Broom, and Jimmy Broom; two sisters, Mary Perry (Len), and Sarah Harvell; special family friend, Chris Burris; and many special nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and LuEdith Broom; and his sister, Vivian Broom. 

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Broom will be 1:00 pm Friday, January 17, 2025 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601
