Obituary of Bobby Thomas Roberts

LUGOFF – A service to celebrate the life of Bobby Thomas Roberts, 82, will be held on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at International Praise Church of God, 5071 Percival Road, Elgin, S.C. A private entombment will be held Sunday in Elmwood Mausoleum, Columbia.  The Rev. B. Doyle Roberts will officiate.  The family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 2:30 – 3:30 pm at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to International Praise Church of God.

Mr. Roberts, husband of the late Marcene Adams Roberts, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 23, 2025.  Born in Chesterfield, he was the son of the late Smiley Whitaker and Joe Edith Melton McCormick.  He was a member of International Praise Church of God. Mr. Roberts worked at Springs Cotton Mill, Dupont, and was a truck driver for Builders Transport and Prestige Farms. He was truly a jack-of-all trades. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating, watching Carolina Football, attending church and spending time with family.

Surviving are his; children, Billy Ray Roberts (Denise) of Lugoff, Christopher Saul Roberts of Oceanside, CA, Joey L. Roberts, Sr. of Lugoff, B. Doyle Roberts (Sylvia) of Lexington and Jamie Dean Roberts of Lugoff; siblings, Crawford Whitaker (Vivian), Judy Carter (Andy), Barbara Belk; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a grandson, Bobby Doyle Roberts, Jr and a daughter-in-law, Kristin Roberts.
