Harriet Kiehl Obituary

Harriet Bruno Kiehl, 96, died on Friday, January 31, 2025. She was born in New Jersey to the late Louis and Harriet Bruno. A celebration of life will be held at the Camden Hunt Club House at 684 Red Fox Rd, Camden on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 11:30 AM-2:30PM. A second celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 1:00 PM-4:00 PM at her niece Joan Krejci’s home in Medina, OH. Memorials to The Camden Hunt may be made to the Thiel- Firestone Foundation, c/o Sue Sensor, Savage, Royall, and Sheheen Law Firm, 1111 Church Street, Camden, SC, 29020.

She was a dedicated longtime horsewoman and avid fox hunter. Harriet and her beloved husband Bob moved to Camden from Bath, OH over 40 years ago. In Bath, they hunted with Ray Firestone’s Lauray Hunt and she co-founded the Bath Pony Club. They were active supporters of the Camden Hunt.

As her good friend and neighbor, Susan Provenzano said. “She was a legend in her time and a role model for many people in the equine and canine community. She competed successfully in dressage, eventing, and later competitive driving. Her ponies were always turned out impeccably and trained to the “nth” degree. We feel honored to have had the amazing opportunity to be part of her life, both in Ohio and South Carolina. There will be a big hole in many hearts today and for a long time to come with the loss of this beautiful, strong and amazing lady. Harriet, no one will ever fill your shoes!”

In 2012 Harriet was a member of the first team in SC to become a recipient of the Century Club while riding “Tosca” of Shaybird Farm in Camden. She will be deeply missed by her loving nieces and nephews and her WONDERFUL SC equine family. 

Harriet is survived by nine nieces and nephews.
