Jessie Jacobs Obituary
Mrs. Jessie Watson Jacobs was born December 3, 1925, in English, SC. She was the beloved daughter and the eleventh of twelve children born to the late James and Catherine Belton Watson. On Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 4:55 p.m. God sent one of his angels to escort His servant Jessie M. Watson Jacobs home. For 99 years Mrs. Jacobs has been a good and faithful servant to God, her children, family, and community.
Jessie attended the public schools of Richland County and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Columbia. She worked as a Housekeeper for fifty plus years. She gave of herself unselfishly to others.
At an early age Mrs. Jacobs became a member of then Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church (now MPBC Empowering Ministries) where she faithfully served until her health declined. Mrs. Jacobs continued to pray and sing at home and on the prayer line. She was a member of the Missionary Society and a dedicated member of the Senior Choir. Though she is no longer physically with us, she has left a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of her family and all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius Jacobs; daughter, Cynthia Jenerette; granddaughter, Alissa Jenerette; grandson, Benjamin Jacobs; six brothers, and three sisters.
Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Mrs. Jacobs are her loving children, Shirley (Bobby Swain) Carlyle of Hepzibah, GA; Wilbert (Mary) Jacobs of Columbia, SC; and Benjamin (Sylvia Thompson) Jacobs, of Eastover, SC; sister, Ms. Lucy Watson of Eastover, SC; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her, but rejoice that she is resting with the Lord.
