Graveside funeral services for Willie Alfred Smyrl, 96, will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Quaker Cemetery, 713 Meeting Street, Camden, SC. Rev. Clint Ellis, Woodie Dixon, and Mark Derr will officiate. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, SC 29020, or to the charity of one’s choice.
Alfred, son of the late Oscar Jackson Smyrl, Sr. and the late Mary Ann Davis Smyrl, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025. He was the husband of Dianne Edwards Smyrl.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Dianne; daughter, Bonnie Louise Smyrl Watts (Regie) of Camden; son, John Patrick Smyrl (Jo-zanne) of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Jackson Patrick Smyrl, Benjamin Smyrl Watts, Abigail Ruth Watts Ingalls (Joshua), Lee Gilliam, and Lauren Gilliam; step-children, Elizabeth Lamm Gilliam of Simpsonville, SC and John Anthony Lamm of Simpsonville; and sister-in-law, Betty Spires Smyrl of Camden.
In addition to his parents, Alfred was predeceased by his first wife, Bonne Ruth Litchfield Smyrl; son, Willie Alfred Smyrl, Jr.; brother, Oscar J. “Jak” Smyrl, Jr; and sisters, Lottie Smyrl Anderson and Lucy Smyrl Brown.
