Hanzel Holiday Obituary

Hanzel Holiday, age 72, son of the late Edward and Hattie Holiday, was born September 16, 1953, in Lee County, South Carolina and departed this life on March 1, 2025, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, in Sumter, South Carolina.

Hanzel was raised in a loving Christian home. He attended school in Lee County. He moved to Florida and worked in construction and various jobs. Later, he returned to South Carolina where he resided with two of his sisters. He rejoined Pine Grove A.M.E. Church upon his return to South Carolina. Hanzel worked part time at Habitat for Humanity for several years before fully retiring and being a recipient of a kidney transplant.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tommy Lee Holiday and Edward Holiday Jr. and four sisters, Christine Holiday, Louise English, Dorothy Cunningham and Lessie Byrd. 

Hanzel is survived by his daughter Leslie Greene (Daniel)Harvey (SC); and grandsons Anthony and Jaycen; sons, Antonio Holiday (FL), Christopher Greene (SC) and grandson Cameron, Mark Benbow (NC), and grandchildren Znyah, Nasir, and Neveah, and Gene Holiday (NY) and grandson Jaelyn; two sisters Gladys Allen (SC) and Ernestine (Kim) Thomas(NY).;brother, Robert Holiday (SC); and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.
