Hester Robinson

Hester Marie Robinson, daughter of the late Charlie Robinson and the late Maggie Thomas Robinson was born on October 6, 1933. Hester had eleven siblings; namely; Carrie, Poley, Charlie, Leetha, Ernest, Clarence, Gibbs, Virginia, Vernon, Cynthina, and Earl. Her oldest granddaughter Carla also predeceased Hester, Herman, a special nephew, who was reared in the same household as Hester predeceased, he’s in 2024. A favorite nephew Allen preceded Hester in death also.

Hester was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County School District in Camden, South Carolina, and she graduated from Jackson High School in Camden. At an early age, Hester received her religious education under the guidance of her nurturing parents and the tutelage of church leaders at St. Paul United Methodist Church. She faithfully attended services at St. Paul until she relocated to Paterson, New Jersey, she always participated in the activities of her church and supported the work and efforts of
the church even while away from St. Paul. In New Jersey, Hester became affiliated with FBH Baptist Church in Baptist where she ushered and actively supported the church there.

She was employed at North Jersey at Totowa Training School as a Human Service Assistant for many years until she retired and journeyed back to her beloved hometown. Hester enjoyed baking delectables and gardening. However, her gift and passion in life became increasingly apparent when Hester proceeded to take an early retirement from her employer in Totowa, New Jersey. She came back
home to care for her beloved brothers. She also administered to the needs of other family members, who suffered affliction. Through it all, she remembered to trust in God and faithfully attended worship at St. Paul upon her return to her beloved homestead.

With the passage of time, Hester’s health began to decline, and she was admitted to Ridgeway Manor Health Care Center in Ridgeway, South Carolina. In recent weeks, Hester’s body became weak, and she entered Richland Prisma Health Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Days later, on Thursday, March 20, Hester responded to God’s call and her journey on this earth ended. She is resting, her legacy has been established and cherished memories remain.

Survivors left to recall memories are, a loving son, Ricky Robinson, of Camden, South Carolina, a daughter-in-law Stella Robinson; a dedicated and devoted friend, Thelma Fletcher; two grandsons, Rikki, of Paterson, New Jersey, and Jason of Scotch Plains, New Jersey; two granddaughters, Lea, of Cresskill, New Jersey, and Sherisa of Huntersville, North Carolina. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, one special sister-in-law Elizabeth Robinson and many nephews’ nieces, and other relatives and friends.
