Obituary of Kenneth Ronald Dorey, Jr.

Columbia – Graveside service for Kenneth Ronald Dorey, Jr., 82, will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boys Town.

Mr. Dorey passed away at Lexington Medical Center on Friday, March 28, 2025.  Born in Rumford, Maine, he was the son of the late Kenneth Ronald Dorey, Sr. and Evelyn Robinson Dorey.  He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, and retired from the United States Army Reserves after 25 years of service.  He also retired as a Food Service Management Instructor from AAFES.  He was a member of the VFW.  Mr. Dorey enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Marie Burch Dorey; sons, Robert Clayton Dorey (Diana) of Chapin, Mark A. Dorey (Sarah) of Columbia, John W. Archer of Sevierville, Tenn., and James K. Archer (Cammie) of West Rotunda, Fla.; daughter, Kari A. Lemons (David) of Columbia; sister, Ronnie Sanborn of Lewiston, Maine; brother, Richard Dorey (Sheila) of Winthrop, Maine; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
