Earthquake wakes South Carolina residents as tremors rumble through this part of the state

Tremors returned to South Carolina early Wednesday morning as a 1.5 magnitude earthquake rumbled in the Columbia area, according to the U.S. Geological Survey . Wednesday’s earthquake was recorded at 5:09 a.m. in the area near Elgin in Kershaw County , the South Carolina Emergency Management Division said.
