Where once there were wings, there will be wings again.
Wingstop , the national chicken wing chain with a strong presence in the Midlands, is bringing a new location to 132 Assembly St. in downtown Columbia, according to social media posts from Cason Development Group . That’s in a strip of shops near the intersection with Whaley Street that includes Addam’s Gamecock Store . The Wingstop will be going into a space that formerly was home to Wing Zone .
“Exciting changes coming to Assembly Street!” Cason Development posted on Instagram. “Wingstop will soon be opening in the former Wing Zone location, bringing their bold flavors and signature wings to the heart of Columbia.”
There are more than 2,200 Wingstop restaurants across the U.S. , per data website ScrapeHero. There are a half dozen locations across the Midlands, including a recently opened outpost at 736 W. Main St. in Lexington.
Wingstop also is bringing a new shop to the developing Market at Spears Creek development in Elgin near northeast Columbia. That development is being anchored by a Publix .
The restaurant is known for its various chicken offerings, including wings, boneless wings, tenders and sandwiches, with a number of sauce flavors available, including lemon pepper, mango habanero, and hickory smoked barbecue, among others.
