Baseball

Jackets back in region action: The Buford Yellow Jackets baseball team returned to Region 4-2A action April 1 with an 8-3 win over North Central to improve to 11-3 on the season and 4-1 in the region. Easton Rollings had four of the Jackets’ 13 hits against North Central to lead the way. He also drove in three. Gavin Lowery and Gavin Love also had two RBIs. Jackson Sellers pitched six innings allowing three runs on seven hits, while walking two and striking out five.

Vols take two: The Andrew Jackson Volunteers won two games this past week beating Central 14-8 on April 1 in Region 4-2A action and then beating Hartsville 9-4 on April 2. The Vols sit at 4-10 on the season and 2-3 in Region 4-2A.

Warriors split with Copperheads: Indian Land baseball has split their first two games of their three-game series against the Catawba Ridge Copperheads. Indian Land won 9-4 in the series opener April 1 and then fell April 2 in game two by a score of 2-1. In the win, five Indian Land players had two hits as the Warriors scattered 12 hits in the contest. They are now 11-2 on the season and 6-2 in Region 3-5A play.

Dogs bite Bruins: The Lancaster Bruins lost a Region 3-4A game to the Camden Bulldogs on April 1 by a 6-3 score. The Bruins are 5-8 on the season and 4-3 in region play. Lancaster managed just three hits in the game and was led by RBIs from Duke Foster and Darius Jackson.

Softball

Lady Vols thump Westwood: The Andrew Jackson Lady Vols softball team beat Westwood handily 14-2 on April 2. The Vols are 7-3 overall and 3-1 in Region 4-2A play.

Buford blanks Central: The Buford softball team blanked Central 11-0 behind a two-hitter from Caroline Plyler. Plyler struck out 15 in the win without allowing a walk. Emma Timmons went 4-5 to lead Buford.

Lancaster falls to Camden: The Lady Bruins fell to Camden in a Region 3-4A game on April 1. Camden used a seven-run, sixth-inning to pull away. Trinity Taylor, Kasyah Stover, and Olyanna Wheeler each had two hits for Lancaster.

Soccer

Bruins win on PKs: The Lancaster boy’s soccer team won over Dreher on penalty kicks after a scoreless match on April 1. Lancaster is now 7-5 overall and 6-1 in Region 3-4A.

The Lady Bruins fell 8-1 to Dreher in a region contest on the same day and are now 2-8 overall and 2-5 in region play.

Demons drop Buford: The Buford girls soccer team fell 6-1 to the Lugoff-Elgin Demons on April 1 and are now 9-3 overall on the season. Payton Bowers scored the lone goal for Buford.

Warriors sweep Trojans: The Indian Land boys soccer team beat the Northwestern Trojans 3-1 on April 1 and are now 6-8 overall and 3-3 in Region 3-5A play. Camden Hannig scored twice for Indian Land and Cleodaldo Bastidas scored once for the Warriors.

The Indian Land girls beat Northwestern on the same day 9-0. Indian Land is now 6-7-4 overall on the season and 2-4 in region play.
