Obituary of Thomasena P. Reid
SUMTER- A funeral service for Thomasena Pollard Reid, 76, will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church, Rembert, with burial to follow in Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. B.J. Jefferson will officiate. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Reid, wife of the late James Reid, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Born in Boykin, she was a daughter of the late Elias and Mamie Kirkland Pollard. Mrs. Reid was a member of St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her church and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Reid enjoyed shopping and helping others. Neighborhood children would always stop by her home for candy and treats.
Surviving are her son, James Thomas Reid (Odessa) of Sumter; grandchildren, Jabari Weaver-Reid, Janiyah Weaver-Reid, Jamir Weaver-Reid all of Sumter; siblings, Mamie Singletary of N.J., Frances Wardell of N.J., Naomi Pollard of Camden, Janette McKenney of Lugoff, Charlie M. Pollard (Jeanette D.) of Cassatt; an numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by siblings, Eula P. Shields and Elias Pollard, Jr.
