Carnell Adamson (Bug) Jr. was born July 21, 1945, to the late Mr. Carnell Adamson Sr. and Mrs. Rosa D. Adamson. He was the oldest of five children. He departed his life on Monday, May 5, 2025 at MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center, Camden. S.C. Carnell was born in Washington, D.C.

Carnell, graduated from Jackson High School, Camden, S.C. Later, he moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he lived for many years, then he entered the U S Army station in Fort Gordon, GA. Upon completion of basic training he was sent to Vietnam where he stayed for several months.

After several years in the army he came out then entered the Marine Corps, station in Paris Island S.C. where he was there for many years. Carnell decided to return back home to Camden, S.C, to attend Midlands Technical College, Columbia, S.C. He drove Trailways buses, during the era when there was only a few African American bus drivers. Carnell retired from Dana, Columbia, S.C. he was a machinist, for many years.

Carnell was a family man, loving husband, and a devoted father. He loved to travel, and every year he would take his entire family on vacation to Disney World in Florida.

He was preceded in death his parents, two sisters: Corrine King, Janie Drakeford, and one brother in law Steve Drakeford.

Leave to cherish his loving memory, his devoted, faithful, and loving wife of 52 years; two sons, Tracy C. Adamson of San Antonino, Texas and Gregory L. Adamson of Camden, S.C; one daughter, Angela (Ebenezer) Ablorh of Rock Hill, S.C; three grandchildren, Elvin, Eden, and Ebenezer Jr. Ablorh; two sisters, Shirley (Jimmy) Bennett of Camden, S.C, Barbara (Richard) Brennan of Columbia, S.C.; one brother, Jacob (Agnes) Adamson of Columbia, S.C.; three sisters-in-law, Blanche McClendon, Sallie Johnson, and Lillie Johnson.

Adopted into the Adamson family is Adjeley Griffin and Emmanuel Kumi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and others who will dearly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. Interment, with Military Honors will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
