Obituary of Barbara Worley Baytes
Barbara Worley Baytes, born on July 1, 1931, was surrounded by loved ones as she entered the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 . She was 93. Born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she moved to Camden, SC, with her husband and their children in the 1960’s. A devoted follower of Christ, she was the oldest member of New Hope Church in Camden. Barbara enjoyed spending time with the Lord and with her family, rocking on the front porch, listening to music, and playing card games with family and friends. In her younger days, she enjoyed working in the daycare at Malvern Hill Baptist Church. She is reunited in Heaven with her late husband, Richard “Rich” Baytes, her infant son Michael Dean Baytes, as well as her brother Sonny Worley.
She is survived by her children, Jeff (Sheri) Baytes, Randy (Myra) Baytes, Lori (Johnny) Beeker, and Joseph (Sharon) Baytes. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Michael (Maggie) Baytes, Meagan (Jonathan) Miles, Amanda Baytes, Ben (Lauren) Baytes, Abby Baytes, and Carter Baytes; as well as five great grandchildren: Lilly Page, Shayna Page, Wells Miles, Molly Miles, and Austin Baytes. She is also survived by siblings Bill (Faye) Worley, Harry (Shay) Worley, and Nancy Littlejohn.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Church with a celebration of life following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Camden. Pallbearers: Carter Baytes, Michael Baytes, Ben Baytes, Wesley Sheorn, Jonathan Miles, and Nathan Etters. Honorary pallbearers: Johnny Beeker, Albert Hough and David Yensan.
While we miss her very much, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life for those who trust in Jesus, and know she is now at rest in the arms of her Savior.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to MUSC Health Hospice Lugoff for the loving care they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon’s International.
