Larry Burns Collins Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Larry Burns Collins, who was born on September 25, 1948 and passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025.

Mr. Collins joined the United States Navy where he honorably served this country during the Vietnam War, from 1968 to 1972 aboard the USS Denver, LP9 Ship. While in the Navy he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he went on to become a member and eventually president of the Carolina Faith Riders, a motorcycle club with a focus on Christian Ministry. From the roar of his motorcycle to his quiet moments of reflection as a Deacon at Union Baptist Church, Larry lived his life with an unquenchable zest and a generous heart. His active participation in DARE and Red Ribbon exhibited his deep concern for the wellbeing of others, especially the young and vulnerable.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 19 years, Sofie Collins; daughters, Lisa and Scottie Williams and Leslie and Charlie Khan; grandchildren, Carlson and Lara Williams, Victoria Williams, Jacqueline and Jack Shaw, Ashton Collins and Christina Khan; and great grandson, Jack Shaw.

He is preceded in death by his father, Chester Collins, mother, Frances Collins
