Jennifer Sontag Breazeale Obituary
With complete confidence in her salvation through Christ Jesus, Jennifer Sontag Breazeale, 76, left this earth on December 10, 2025. Born at Ft Jackson, SC on February 23, 1949, she was the oldest of seven children born to the late John Jacob and Armella Gast Sontag of Pierz and Hillman, Minnesota, respectively.
Growing up in a military family she lived in many locations within the United. States during her childhood, as well as six years in Germany. As an adult she retired in 2006 after 31 years at BCBSSC where her career was focused on health claims and customer service.
Jennifer enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, hunting and traveling as well as lots of good laughs with dear friends and family.
She was a member of Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Columbia where she served as a Deacon and helped with Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her husband and love of her life, Earl Cleveland Breazeale of Elgin, her daughter, Julie Norris (Jeff) of Lugoff, her son, Jason Thomas (Tiffany) of Cornelius, NC, stepdaughter, Christina Jacobs (Brian) of Jacksonville, FL, sisters, Cynthia Spinnato (Michael) of Elgin, Sheryl Preacher (James) of Columbia, and Deborah Odom (Fleet) of Myrtle Beach. She also leaves behind six awesome grandchildren, Jacob Norris (Ella), Benjamin and Collin Thomas, Ashley, Caroline and Blake Latimer, and an awesome great-grandson, Harrison Norris.
Jennifer was predeceased by her stepdaughter, Deborah Latimer, her sister, Agnes Orvis, and her brothers, John and James Sontag.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 beginning at 10:00 am in the atrium of Spring Valley Presbyterian Church, Columbia SC. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am in the sanctuary, followed by interment at Greenlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Debt Reduction Fund at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church, 125 Sparkleberry Lane, Columbia, SC, 29229 or to the Oliver Gospel mission, 1100 Taylor Street, Columbia, SC, 29201.
