Nick Hayden Obituary
LUGOFF- A celebration of life service with military honors for Walter Edward “Nick” Hayden, 68, will be held Monday, January 19, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Nick passed away on January 13, 2026. Born in Lynwood, CA, he was a son of Penny Beryl Hayden and the late Charles Walter Hayden. Nick served 20 years in the US Navy including during the Gulf War and Desert Storm. Nick worked in fire suppression after retiring from the Navy and also as a Pastor. He enjoyed model trains, tinkering, playing guitar and coin collecting.
Surviving are his wife, Peg Hayden; son, Frank Hayden (Jaclyn); daughters, Mary Hayden (Rio), Kimberly Hayden, Melinda Contrino (Leo); grandchildren, Grayson Hayden, Ariana “Munchkin” Contrino. Kori “Itty Bitty” Contrino and siblings, Frankie Rogers (Ben), Michael Hayden (Heather), KC Hayden (Jennifer), Daniel Hayden (Mary); and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his first wife, Cynthia Hayden; and a sister, Charlotte Hayden.
