Herbert Fields Blevins

ELGIN – Funeral services for Herbert Fields Blevins, 80, will be held on Friday, July 11, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Blankey Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Lawrence Dennis and Rev. Chris Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2003, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 810, Memphis, TN 38101.

Mr. Belvins died Tuesday, July 8, 2003. Born in Baileywood, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph Marvin and Lizzie Kate Goodman Blevins. He had retired from the US Army and the Civil Service. Mr. Belvins was a veteran of World War II, European Theatre, where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was also a veteran of the Korean War and a member of Blaney Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline Dorn Blevins; sons, Ronney and his wife, Deborah, of Lugoff, Marvin and his wife, Tina, Ardie and his wife, Marlene, and Paul Blevins, all of Elgin; sisters, Alice Sturgill of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Margaret Hick of Glad Springs, Va., and Gladys Shiver of Marion, Va.; brothers, Jim Blevins of Harrison, Ak., Thomas Blevins of Lake Charles, La., Robert Blevins of Marion, Va., and Ardie Blevins of Marion, Va.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn; son, Herbert, Jr.; and sister, Pauline Baker.
