ELGIN – Services for Paul W. Kirkland Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Kirkland Cemetery. Mr. Kirkland, 71, died Sunday, July 7, 1985.
Born June 20, 1914 in Blaney, he was a son of the late John Lee Kirkland Jr. and Emily Gertrude Ross Kirkland. He was a retired motor grader operator of Kershaw County and a member of Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Hattie Mae Proveaux Kirkland; daughters, Mrs. Rachel Goff and Mrs. Mary Rhymer of Elgin; sons, Paul Kirkland Jr. and James Kirkland of Lugoff, and John Kirkland of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother, Herbert Kirkland of Cayce; sisters, Mrs. Pauline Driggers of Columbia and Mrs. Margie Bass of West Columbia; grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
