J. M. Cantey, of Columbia, caught a smallmouth bass in the White pond near Blaney, which weighed 8 pounds. By his catch he won the prize for the month of July, offered by Field and Stream. The prizes were $23 cash, $25 in Paraphernalia and a pair of hunting boots. – Kershaw Era.
