William “Bill” Roof, 75, of Columbia, died Friday, March 10, 2017. Born July 17, 1941, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Albert H. Roof and Lillian Motely Dreher. After graduating Columbia High School he served in the Airforce Reserves from 1954-1962, He owned and operated Roof Jewelers and Midlands Holdings, Inc. for 67 years. He was a deacon at Jackson Creek Baptist Church.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patricia Sill Roof; two sons, William (Jennifer) Roof, and Patrick (Meg) Roof; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by June Ross Rhodes; sister-in-law, Linda Sill; brothers-in-law, Johnny Sill and Jerry Leech; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Edward Sill and sister-in-law, Sue Sill Turner.

The funeral service for Mr. Roof will be held at 1 o’clock, Monday, March 13th, at Jackson Creek Baptist Church, with Reverend Dr. Walter M. Burriss and Pastor Paul Wollner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o’clock, Sunday afternoon at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. Columbia.
