James Joseph Ross was born April 15, 1873 in Blaney, South Carolina.

James Joseph Ross, 5503 Farrow road, died at the Columbia hospital at 7 o’clock Monday afternoon, August 30, 1943 after an illness of several days.

Mr. Ross was born at Blaney and had been an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Columbia for a number of years.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ross (Mary Ella Busbee), and one brother, Harry Ross; one step-daughter, Mrs. R. L. Leckie; one step-son, Horace Weathersby; four step-grandchildren, Miss Mary Ross Leckie; William Robert Leckie, H. D. Weatherby and Harry Weathersby, and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Talbert Funeral Home in College Place at 5:30 this afternoon by the Rev. Edgar D. Zeigler, associate pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran church. Interment will be in Elmwood cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: A. Hart Kohn, J. W. Shealy, Deems Haltiwanger, J. Ralph Leitzsey, Y. D. Dreher and J. B. Bailey.
