Ruth C “Coot” Croswell Gissendanner was born October 15, 1933 in Denmark, South Carolina, the daughter of Arthur Francis Croswell and Myrtis Utsey Croswell.

ELGIN — A funeral service for Ruth C. Gissendanner, 73, of Elgin, will be held at 11 o’clock Friday morning, August 17, 2007, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Ken Jumper and Rev. Phillip Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o’clock Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Tri- County, Camden Office, 2039 West Dekalb St., Camden, SC 29020.

Mrs. Gissendanner, widow of Thomas Edward Gissendanner, died Monday, August 13, 2007. Born in Denmark, SC, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Francis and Myrtis Utsey Croswell. Ruth was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She had a strong sense of the family unit. She lived her life as a witness for the Lord. Ruth and her husband, Tommy, were former operators of Cat Head Landing at Santee. She was a faithful patron and friend of Bill’s Pickin Parlor. She was a member of Blaney Baptist Church and a charter member of Church of the Harvest in Lexington.

Surviving are daughters, Debra (Bill) Hall of Phoenix, AZ, Lynn (Robert) Gissendanner-Galloway of Irmo; grandchildren, Laura Hall and Austin Hall of Phoenix, AZ, Chris Elliott of Miami, FL, Jenny Elliott of Lexington, Johnny Roof and Andy Roof, Emily Galloway, all of Irmo; great-grandchild, Tyler Hall of Jonesboro, TN.
