CAMDEN – (Special) – Funeral services for Thaddeus J. Boone will be conducted at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning from the DeKalb Baptist Church in DeKalb by the Rev. Harold Wells, the Rev. James Outen and the Rev. Mr. Sinclair. Military Honors will be rendered. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Boone, 26, a Navy man, was killed about 9:20 o’clock Saturday morning, August 20, 1960 when the car in which he was riding alone left the highway on a curve three miles from Blaney on Highway 1, south of Camden. He was serving abroad a Navy LST now in Charleston.
Survivors include his wife and three children of near here and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Boone of Route 3, Camden.
Seaman Boone was in the United States Navy on the USS Terrebonne Navy Base. He was enroute to his home five miles north of Camden to spend the weekend with his wife and two children.
The survivors are his wife, Mrs. Kelcie Allen Boone; two children, Joseph Boone and Kelcie Mae Boone of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Boone of Camden; three half brothers and one half sister.
He was a member of the DeKalb Baptist Church and was educated in the Baron DeKalb Schools of Kershaw County.
Funeral plans are incomplete.
On August 21, 1960, Thaddeus J. Boone was listed in the newspaper article “T. J. Boone, US Navy, Killed Near Camden.”
