Corrie Vernell Motley Sanders was born April 17, 1893 in Richland County, South Carolina, a daughter of John Glenn Motley, Sr. and Fannie Ann Thornton Motley.

1931

On October 21, 1931, Mrs. W. D. Sanders was listed in the newspaper article “Officials To Probe Death.”

On October 22, 1931 Mrs. Warren D. Sanders was listed as the living father in the obituary of Rembert Sanders.

1940

According to the United States census reported on May 12, 1940, Warren Dalton Sanders (53), owned a house in Blaney, Kershaw, South Carolina with his wife Coria Motley Sanders (46); his nephews-in-law, Willard Monroe (23) and Coley Motley (28), and servants Geneva Jones (40), and Simon Johnson (42). It was reported the household members were all born in South Carolina and lived in the same house on April 1, 1935, except for Geneva Jones and Simon Johnson, who reported living in rural, Kershaw County, South Carolina. Warren Dalton Sanders was a merchant at a retail store, Willard Monroe and Coley Motley were farm laborers.  Geneva Jones and Simon Johnson were domestic servants.

1943

On October 21, 1943, Mrs. W. D. Sanders was listed as the living daughter in the obituary of John G. Motley, Sr.

1944

September 25, 1944, Mrs. Corrie Motley Sanders was listed as the living wife in the obituary of Warren Dalton Sanders.

1965

On January 6, 1965 Mrs. Corrie V. Sanders was listed as a living daughter in the obituary of Mrs. Fannie Thornton Motley.

1974

Mrs. Corrie Sanders

ELGIN – Mrs. Corrie Motley Sanders, 80, died Saturday, February 2, 1974 in a Columbia hospital after a short illness.

Born on April 17, 1893 in Richland County, she was a daughter of the late John Glenn Motley, Sr., and Fannie Thornton Motley. She was a member of Blaney Baptist Church.

Surviving are three brothers, Franklin Lever Motley of Elgin, George Brown Motley of Columbia and James Knowlton Motley of Patrick: two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Glenn Motley Monroe of Columbia and Mrs. Clara D. Goodwin of Elgin.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Warren Dalton Sanders, sister; Laura Elbert Motley Ross; brothers John Glenn Motley and Coley Blease Motley.

Services will be 4pm today in Blaney Baptist Church with burial in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Kornegay Funeral Home of Camden is in charge.
