A lovely wedding of wide interest was that of Miss Carolyn Elizabeth Branham and Richard Laverne Moore, which took place at 7:30 p.m. September 15 in Blythewood Community Center. Elder Ernest Graham officiated at the Double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence L. Branham of Ridgeway. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Annie Mae Moore and the late J. O. Moore of Blythewood.

Mrs. Hayward S. Christenson, pianist and Miss Lynette Moore, sister of the bridegroom, soloist, presented the wedding music.

The candles were lighted by Odell Branham, cousin of the bride, of Ridgeway, and Mickey Branham, cousin of the bridegroom, of Columbia. Ushers were Kenneth Branham, brother of the bride, and Wayne Branham, cousin of the bridegroom, of Columbia.

The bridegroom had as his best man, his brother -in-law, Fred Kunkel of Prosperity. The ring bearer was Irvin Branham, cousin of the bridegroom, of Columbia.

The flower girls were Judy Peake, cousin of the bride, of Blaney, and Debbie Hawkins, cousin of the bridegroom, of Prosperity. They wore dresses of turquoise taffeta and brocade, and carried white net baskets of flower petals.

Miss Gladys Branham, sister of the bride was maid of honor. She wore a short gown of deep turquoise taffeta, and her headpiece was a crown of turquoise braid enhanced with droplets of pearls and a short veil of matching illusion. Shoes dipped to match and short white gloves completed her costume, and she carried a single yellow mum.

The bridesmaids were Misses Elaine Dove, cousin of the bride, of Ridgeway; Eliza Wilson of Ridgeway; Peggy Kelly of Blaney and Bernice Kelly, cousin of the bride, of Blaney. Their dresses, headpieces, and flowers were identical to that of the honor attendant.

The bride, give in marriage by her father, was lovely in her floor – length gown of nylon tulle and chantilly lace. The fitted bodice had a scalloped sabrina neckline with pearl and sequin trim, and the sleeves ended in points over the hand. The full skirt featured alternating tiers of tule and lace. Her fingertip veil of bridal illusion fell from a crown of lace and pearls. She carried a white satin and lace covered Bible topped with a white orchid.

Immediately following the ceremony, the bride’s parents entertained at a reception in the hall. Assisting the bridal couple in receiving was their parents and attendants. Miss Lanell Pealke of Ridgeway kept the bride’s register. Mrs. Samuel Kelly served punch and assisting in serving were Misses Patricia Dove and Annette Dove, cousins of the bride. The wedding cake was cut and served by Mrs. Matedell Kunkle.
