Camden, March 18. – Earl Bowen, 58, of Blaney, member of the Kershaw county board, died at his home today. He was a son of A. H. Bowen and Martha Bowen.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Annie Laurie Bailey Bowen, and four children, Talmadge, Cal R., Christine and Mildred Bowen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning at Blaney. Interment will be at Smyrna churchyard.

Funeral services for Earle H Bowen, 58, who died at the Columbia Hospital Monday evening after an illness of four weeks, were held at his home at Blaney Wednesday morning, conducted by Rev. Peter Stokes of Sumter, presiding elder, assisted by Rev. E. V. Best of Lugoff. Interment will be in Smyrna cemetery.
Mr. Bowen was born and reared at Blaney, and his death has brought much sadness to his community. He was one of the leading merchants and planters of Kershaw County., He was a member of Smyrna Methodist church, near Blaney, and was also a member of Kershaw County board of directors, having served for four years in that capacity.
He is survived by his widow formerly Miss Annie Laurie Bailey of Kershaw county, two sons, Carroll and Talmage Bowen, two daughters, Christine and Mildred Bowen, all of Blaney, also a brother, Elliott H. Bowen of Fort Deposit, Ala., two half brothers, Julian A. Bowen of Whiteville, N. C., two sister, Mrs. Eva Crumpton of Sumter and Mrs. Eunice Brown of Spartanburg, and a half-sister, Mrs. E. O. Horger of Eutawville.
Pallbearers were: Active, W. P. Gettys, B. K. Rose, Blake Kelly, H. R. Boykin, George Mickle, J. D. Watson. Honorary, J. T. Mackley, C. J. Shannon, Jr., H. G. Carrison, Jr., D. M. Kirkland, J. H. Sowell, H. E. Munn, R. T. Mickle, S. C. Rose, Milton Deal, J. L. Moseley and S. W. Van Landingham.

Leading Blaney Citizen Passes Away.
Earle H. Bowen, age 58 years, died at Columbia hospital Monday evening after an illness of four weeks.
Mr. Bowen was born and reared at Blaney and spent his entire life in that township.
A man widely known and loved by all who knew him, he was one of the leading merchants and planters of Kershaw county.
He is survived by his widow formerly Miss Annie Laurie Bailey of Kershaw county, two sons, Carroll and Talmage Bowen, two daughters, Christine and Mildred Bowen, all of Blaney, also a brother, Elliott H. Bowen of Fort Deposit, Ala., two half brothers, Julian A. Bowen of Whiteville, N. C., two sister, Mrs. Eva Crumpton of Sumter and Mrs. Eunice Brown of Spartanburg, and a half-sister, Mrs. E. O. Horger of Eutawville.
