Blaney Baptist Church in Elgin recently got a new steeple to mark its 100th anniversary. The 33-foot steeple, installed in August, weighs 850 pounds and replaces a steeple that was toppled by Hurricane Hugo in 1989. The church is at Church Street and White Pond Road in downtown Elgin.
