No Inquest In Death Of Blaney Boy

Captain Sam E. Owen, chief of the highway patrol, said Friday he understands there will be no inquest into the death of Rembert Sanders, 19-year-old Camden youth killed Tuesday night in an automobile collision with the Highway Patrolman Leo Jenkins.

The father of young Sanders informed Lieut. George Young of the patrol that he is willing to consider the collision an unavoidable accident and the episode closed, Captain Owen said.

Lieutenant Young reported on the case Thursday after an investigation. He interviewed Patrolman Jenkins, whom minor scalp wounds confined to the Camden hospital, and talked with members of the boy’s family.

Jenkins was driving a car at the time of the accident. With Sanders were Melton Thornton and two girl companions who sustained slight injuries. Funeral services for Sanders were held Thursday morning at Blaney.
