Marion Lindsay “Slick” Coker was born August 4, 1926 in Blaney, South Carolina, son of Robert Marion Coker and Lucille Morgan Coker.

On November 20, 1951, Sgt. Marion L. Coker was listed in the newspaper article “Sgt. Marion L. Coker On Korean Front Lines.”

2000

Mr. Coker died Thursday, April 6, 2000. Born in Blaney, he was the son of the late Robert Marion Coker and Lucille Cook Coker. He was a retired U.S. Army Warrant Officer having served in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He was a member of Elks Lodge #298 where he had served as Exalted Ruler. On February 7, 1998, he was inducted into the S.C. Elks Hall of Fame. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #344 and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Frances B. Coker of Blaney; daughter, Judy Branham of Blaney; stepdaughter, Jean Dial of Pontiac; sons, Tommy Coker of Blaney, Mike Coker of Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers, Ernest Coker of Lugoff, Edward Coker of Santee; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren. He was affectionately known as “Paw-Paw” by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On December 15, 2009, Marion Coker was listed as the deceased brother in the obituary of Ernest W. Coker, Sr.
