John Sanders, 23, of 1717 Pickens Street, died Monday morning, October 16, 1961 in the Columbia Hospital after an illness of several weeks.

Formerly from Kershaw County, Mr. Sanders had made his home in Columbia for 10 years. He was a member of the Full Salvation Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Etta Sanders; a daughter, Marie Sanders; a brother, Arthur Sanders, of Worcester, Mass.; five sisters, Mrs. Ruby Lassiter, Mrs. Josephine Beck, Mrs. Edith Graddick and Mrs. Nancy Stokes, all of Columbia, and Mrs. Edity Vezina of Natick, Mass.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday for the Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church at Blaney. Interment will be in Spears Creek Baptist churchyard at Blaney.

The body is at the home of his mother, 1717 Pickens Street, Columbia. Thompson Funeral Home is in charge.
