Mezzo-soprano Theresa Treadway will be in concert Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Blaney Baptist Church in Elgin.

The concert is sponsored by the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County through participation in the national demonstration project CART, a program of Affiliate Artists Inc., supported by the Southern Arts Federation. Support funds were received from the South Carolina Arts Commission.

From southwestern Oklahoma, Ms. Treadway comes from a musical family. She started playing the piano at seven and studied with the idea of becoming a concert pianist. Her voice training began at the University of Oklahoma where she later won a Metropolitan Opera Regional audition.

She has performed more than 30 Carmens in three different translations.
